Dear Pierce,

I love your kids’ questions! And their theatric poses on camera. Our own intro activities in the Diliman class involved colorful cartolina, some So Big crayons, and a bit of drawing.

In small groups, the kids listed words (positive, negative, or neutral) commonly associated with “lesbian”, “gay”, “bisexual”, “transgender”, “queer”, and “heterosexual”. I also asked them to draw an image to symbolise their group.

One of my favorites was the symbol by the Gay group: Two swords and shield, with a butterfly motif. As the kids said, batak and fabulous.
